Unimpressed by the limited design options at popular groom wear stores such as Manyavar, our client Jijo visited our Boutique with the request to get a customized outfit stitched for his engagement ceremony. Ours is largely a Women’s Boutique but we also design clothes for men, especially, contemporary ethnic wear. It was an unusual yet intriguing challenge for our designers to create a groom’s outfit that was a blend of traditional design elements and a modern silhouette. We embraced this challenge with open arms
Jijo wanted a golden colour palette for the outfit, to match his fiance’s engagement dress, so we opted for a cream raw silk kurta and a cream Nehru jacket with gold brocade accents. We designed a long kurta with a Chinese collar and no pockets for a modern look and paired it with Pyjamas that had a straight cut like pants. We kept the design of the Nehru Jacket simple too, with no inner pockets, and punch buttons that matched the fabric. The idea was to let the golden brocade be the star of the show, and we added a hint of colour with a maroon pocket square
Jijo looked dapper in the final Kurta-Pyjama-Jacket outfit that fit him perfectly, and the colour of the jacket paired really well with his fiance’s dress. Together, the young couple looked like a match made in heaven!
