An Indo-western look is ideal for a wedding reception guest and flatters curvy figures beautifully. So, when our client Swati approached Lavender, The Boutique looking for something stylish to wear at her brother-in-law’s reception, we recommended an Indo-western style jacket to her. Here is how Swati’s stunning outfit came to life.
Swati wanted a flared outfit to complement her curvy figure. However, she did not want a gown, and an Anarkali would have been too bulky. So, we recommended a long jacket with a front slit and straight pants to go with it. Indo-western outfits with a front slit are quite trendy, and the straight pants would have a slimming effect. Swati loved the idea, so we proceeded to design this outfit.
For the Indo-western jacket, we chose a georgette fabric in a festive purplish-blue colour. We added mirror work on the neckline, sleeves, and edges, with pink thread work to match the pants. We gave the jacket full sleeves to complement Swati’s plus-size figure and added a keyhole back with mirror work for a wow factor.
The straight pants were made using a pale pink Mull Silk fabric, which was appropriate for summer. Also, the pink created a beautiful contrast with the purple jacket, offering a reception-appropriate look.
