Whether you are attending a family function or getting a family portrait clicked, these days millennial families are catching up on the trend of matching family outfits in all such events

Our client, Ramesh and Indu, along with their two kids wanted to dress up in coordinated clothing for an upcoming marriage reception party of a relative

Matchy-matchy family outfits can often veer into awkward family photos territory, but only if you make sure they are stitched and matched to perfection. For our client’s family, we wanted to design something ethnic for all four members since this was an Indian wedding reception

The Colour Scheme

When designing for a family, it’s essential that you fix on a color theme so that even if the outfit silhouettes are not similar the looks will be well coordinated. Hence, we went for a rich emerald green and soft peach color theme for this family

For embellishments, we did extensive “Aari work” on the fabric to give it a traditional look. Aari handwork embroidery is one of the many forms of embroidery, originated in the Mughal era. It is popular for its fine and delicate thread work

The Lehenga Blouse Design

For our only female member in the family, Indu, we designed a lehenga skirt in emerald green made out of taffeta silk fabric and net on the outside. The lehenga was embellished with a beautiful cut stone scattered work and patchwork. Similar work was done on her blouse that was stitched out of pure raw silk in emerald green. To complete this look, we added a peach color net dupatta with patchwork and delicate aari work on the borders

For the Boys...

For all the male members of the family, we designed a custom-fit sherwani in pure raw silk having traditional Aari work embroidery. For Ramesh, we designed his sherwani in emerald green matching with her better half and clubbed it with beige color pants in tweed fabric

For their sons, we designed a peach color sherwani with Aari thread work all over sherwani clubbed with beige color pants in tweed fabric
