One Skirt styled in two ways for a Little Wedding Guest!

Kids outgrow their clothes fast and restyling their clothes is a sustainable choice. Here’s how we created two looks with one skirt for our little client

The sustainable fashion movement has gained a lot of momentum in the past few years and consumers are looking for innovative ways to restyle and rewear their clothes. Be it by restyling your wedding lehenga for other events with different blouses or revamping your children’s dresses with new accessories, you can reduce the size of the wardrobe while having new looks to sport to every occasion. Our client Pooja had something similar in her mind when she asked us to create two outfits for her daughter Aanya but using just one skirt. We took up this design challenge and here is how we created two outfits for Aanya to wear to a family wedding in Kerala!

Pooja wanted to create two outfits using one skirt for Aanya because kids outgrow their clothes really fast and therefore getting two skirts would be wasteful. We understood her concern completely and decided to create a white raw silk skirt for Aanya which could be paired with tops of multiple colours. To keep with the theme of a traditional Kerala wedding, we added golden embroidery on the white skirt. We also added a cotton lining under the raw silk skirt so that Aanya would be comfortable in the outfit

For the two tops to be paired with the kids skirt, we opted for a matching white and a contrasting festive red top. Both the tops were made out of raw silk and had a halter neck so that they would be comfortable to wear throughout the event and easy to change out of. We added cotton linings to both the tops to avoid any itchiness or discomfort to Aanya

Aanya looked like an angel in both the skirt and top combinations and the two outfits looked quite unique and distinct from each other. We were happy that we were able to create two different looks while meeting our client’s goal of being sustainable!
